
Nicola, BBE, ADAPT
President and Artistic Director, Nicola Kozmyk is a dancer, choreographer, and dance educator who has been active for 19 years in the Canadian dance community.
Nicola completed her Bachelor of Business and Entrepreneurship degree majoring in Sports and Recreation Management from Mount Royal University in June 2007, and is an MRU Distinguished Alumnus. She is currently Vice President of the Sport and Recreation Chapter of Mount Royal University’s Alumni Association.
Nicola’s dance credits include many awards and scholarships at Canadian dance competitions and festivals, dancing at the World Police Fire Games, several Grey Cup Half Time shows and pre-game events, and The Orange Bowl Half Time Show. She has danced with Nelly Furtado, Lenny Kravitz, The Goo Goo Dolls, Down With Webster, The Stereos, and many others. She spent one year with Calgary’s Youth Dance Unlimited, at the time Canada’s only professional contemporary dance company for dancers under the age of eighteen. Nicola has attended dance workshops and conferences throughout North America studying dance with many notable professional dancers and choreographers including Joe Tremaine, Bonnie Story, JaQuel Knight, and Kathy Kozul.
Nicola’s teaching credentials include ten years of studio dance instruction experience, completion of the three year Teacher’s Training School Certification program in the ADAPT Syllabus with Brian and Faye Foley, completion of levels one and two of the National Coaching Certification Program, and completion of the Alberta Cheerleading Association certification program.
Nicola spent six seasons as a dancer and manager with the CFL’s Calgary Stampeder Outriders. Through her position with the team she became involved in many community volunteer activities and was a three-time winner of the club’s promotional and volunteer hours award. Organizations Nicola had the privilege to work with include Big Brothers and Sisters, Make a Wish Foundation, CUPS, and Dreams Take Flight.
Nicola was the 2011 recipient of Mount Royal University’s prestigious Horizon Award which is presented annually to a recent graduate for outstanding achievement early in their career.
